Hello My Name Is...
It is my pleasure and honor to serve Preston Park Elementary as the Assistant Principal. I look forward everyday to meeting the students as they enter the school each morning and then seeing them safely on the bus on their way home. I have had the privilege of serving several different school communities since I have lived in Roanoke.
My education experience includes teaching in Newport News for seven years before moving to Roanoke in 1986. I have worked in Roanoke City Schools as a classroom teacher, Reading Resource Specialist, Elementary Reading and Social Studies Coordinator, Reading Supervisor, and Assistant Principal at five Elementary sites.
I received a BS in Early Childhood Education from Hampton (Institute) University, MS in Reading from Radford University, Ed.S in Supervision and Administration from University of Virginia.
One of my favorite hobbies is reading different types of literature. However, I will always remember two of the books I learned to read from before I entered school which were The Cat in the Hat and Are You My Mother. Reading is one of the greatest gifts we can give to our children. I'm an example of how I remembered that special time with my parent. I encourage all Preston Park Parents to find time to read to your child each day.
